A Rich Heritage With an Eye on the Future

First Baptist Church in Brownsville is a church with a rich heritage and a fresh vision for the future. The church was founded in 1853 and built its ministry on biblical principles and faith in God. That faith took wings about 20 years ago empowering the congregation to walk away from the historic building that had served it well since 1906 and trust God to provide the necessary resources for a new facility. And provide He did!

Today First Baptist Church is a fresh, thriving, growing body of believers in Jesus Christ. While we enjoy a tremendously rich heritage from the past, our focus is on tomorrow. Our congregation is made up of people of all ages. We cherish our little ones, have great respect and admiration for our senior members and deeply appreciate all who make up our church family. We make every effort to encourage fellowship across generational lines.

One of our goals is to accomplish significant ministry in the simplest way possible. We want our ministry to enhance the lives of our people, not make life more complex.

We strive to make our Sunday worship service engaging and meaningful. God’s Word, the Bible, is the source book for our preaching. Our desire is if you visit our worship service you will sense that you have truly interacted with God and His people in a healthy way.

Nursery care is available during our Sunday Worship Service for children from birth through age three. While we offer such care, we are also very supportive of parents who prefer to keep their children with them in the service.
